To mark National Poetry Day on 5th October, Year 6 spent time last week reading and analysing a variety of poems about seeking refuge, including Refugees by Brian Bilston. This powerful ‘reverse’ poem is meant to be read from the top and then from the bottom, and reminds readers to think twice before making judgements about the less fortunate.
The children then wrote their own poems independently, using the examples in class as a stimulus. Please see their work below.
