The majority of children start Skyswood Nursery in the September following their third birthday and spend a total of three terms in the nursery class before transitioning to a Reception class, the following September. 

However, if places allow, we can offer children an earlier start as follows: 

• Children who have their third birthday between 1 September and 31 December can start in the January (spring term) and spend a total of five terms in nursery.
• Children who have their third birthday between 1 January and 31 March can start in the April (summer term) and spend a total of four terms in nursery.

Children who are not successful in securing an ‘early’ start in the spring or summer term will still be considered for a place starting the following September.

The timeline for applications for the academic year 2027/28 is as follows:

Friday 29th January 2027:  Deadline for Applications for September 2027 nursery places

Friday 5th February 2027: Nursery places for September 2027 offered 

Monday 22nd March 2027:  Parents must accept or decline their offered place by this date.

We will not be in a position to offer any children an ‘early start’ to nursery in either January 2027 or April 2027 as nursery is now full for the academic year 2027/2028.  Sorry for any disappointment this may cause.

Skyswood Nursery Provision

 Our standard nursery provision is 15 hours of nursery education per week in the form of 5 sessions, Monday to Friday, each of 3 hours, 9 am – 12 noon.

From September 2026, in partnership with Re:play Breakfast and After School Club, we have been offering full wrap around care from 7.30 am to 6 pm as follows:

SKYSWOOD NURSERY HOURS

School run AM session 9.00 am-12.00 pm FUNDED 15 hours for all (Drop off from 8.50 am)

Formal tours of our nursery for 2027/2028 applications are as follows:

Monday 11th January 2027 at 10.30 am

Friday 15th January 2027 at 10.30 am

Tuesday 19th January 2027 at 10.30 am

Thursday 21st January 2027 at 10.30 am

Wednesday 27th January 2027 at 10.30 am
