Following the successful Master Chef competition we are looking to publish Skyswood’s first ever cook book! Savoury dishes are now part of the KS2 national curriculum and our Year 6 class would have been studying this within school had it not been for lockdown. On top of our amazing dishes that have been included from our Master Chef competition, Year 6 have been cooking a wonderful variety of dishes this week as part of their home learning, and the recipes that we’ve received to date have been excellent.
We recognise that the Master Chef competition involved a four week commitment and would like to offer the chance to any of our children to produce a simple ‘one-off’ savoury recipe if they would like the opportunity for their recipe to be included in our school book.
If you would like to contribute, then our deadline is Friday 15th May. Our Year 6 children are sending us their recipes this week and we aim to have our book completed and ready for the publishers on Monday 18th May, so we need all the material by the 15th at the latest.
Simply cook your recipe, and e-mail it to Mr Bridle (firstname.lastname@example.org) and if possible include a couple of pictures of your child making their dish, and a picture of the finished product! If you are able to type out the ingredients and method within the e-mail this is greatly appreciated, as we can copy this and then re-format the text quite easily into the chosen format of the book.
The book will be an estimated 60 pages in length and full colour. It looks magnificent already and will include a wonderful range of savoury dishes. We intend to sell copies for just £5, donating any profits (about £1.50 per book) to the NHS. It’s a great project to get involved with so why not have a go! Children could cook a recipe by themselves, or they might wish to cook the recipe with a sibling (obviously we encourage a helping hand and a bit of guidance from parents, unless your child is the next Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay!)
We want as many DIFFERENT recipes in the book as possible, and we’ll be using the book to support future Year 6 projects on Savoury Dishes for many summer terms to come. Please have a look at the following list of dishes that are already included in our book, and if you have a different savoury dish that you’d recommend then please give it a go and send us your recipe and pictures by the 15th! Please don’t send us recipes that already feature within the book!
