Welcome to the summer term!

24th April 2019

Dear Parents / Carers,

We hope you had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed the great weather! We are looking forward to a busy and exciting summer term.

Please see the curriculum overview that will be sent home to see what the children will be studying this term.

As we’re sure you are aware, the Key Stage 1 tests will be taking place towards the end of May. The children are familiar with these types of test and we will aim to keep them as informal as possible, so as not to worry the children. The end of year levels will be a combination of both test results and teacher assessment; you will receive your child’s levels in their report.

Thank you to all the parents who have been able to give up their time to help with maths cards. This is such a valuable resource. We would love some new recruits to read with children individually something we have been unable to do last term. Please let us know if you can help. We will try to be as flexible as possible with days and times!

We are currently arranging a class trip in July and will confirm the details as soon as possible.

Further reminders:
• P.E. lessons will continue to take place on Mondays and Thursdays. However, it is advisable to retain kits in school in case of non-timetabled sessions. We aim to go outside as much as possible so children will need their trainers please.
• Maths cards also need to be practised regularly at home and then brought in at least on a Tuesday to be tested.
• Spelling tests will continue take place on a Friday morning, although the structure of these will change. We are currently assessing their spelling of the high frequency words and their weekly spellings will be formed as a result of this assessment and any additional practise needed.
• As the weather improves, please ensure your child has a sun hat and water bottle with them and that sun cream is applied before school as appropriate. However, please ensure your child comes to school with a jumper and coat while the weather is still interchangeable.

Please feel free to come in and see us before or after school with any questions or concerns. Thank you again for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Harvey & Mrs Anderson
