Year 2 were very lucky enough to meet an astronaut that had been to space earlier this week! He may have only been approximately 5 cms tall and didn’t say much but we were all still very impressed. Luckily Jon Spooner, an ex governor and parent at Skyswood School came to talk us through the experience.
Jon runs the Unlimited Theatre group and has previously written a very successful space play. In ‘Spooner’ style Jon researched for this mission by visiting the European Space Training center in Germany, made friends with Tim Peake and convinced him to send a replica model of himself to the International Space Station! It all sounded amazing and all of Year 2 were enthralled. Thank you so much for sharing your story Jon; we loved learning new facts about space missions!
Jon and his ‘Space Shed’ team are taking part in the Great Exhibition Road Festival of Science and Art next weekend on the 29th and 30th of June along with many others. There will be a wide variety of creative workshops, talks, hands on exhibitions, demonstrations and far more!
