We are delighted to announce that, as from February 1st 2022, Skyswood Primary School is now part of the Alban Academy Trust, along with our neighbours from Wheatfields Infant and Junior Schools, Garden Fields Primary, and our secondary colleagues from Sandringham, Verulam and The Ridgeway School (Welwyn Garden City).
Our governors have explored the option of joining the AAT for several years and, with the vast majority of our pupils transferring to Sandringham at the end of Key Stage 2, we look forward to strengthening our relationship even further with Sandringham and all of the schools within the AAT.
As with other primary schools within the AAT, parents, children and staff will not see major changes in the way that we operate on a day-to-day basis, but our funding will now come directly from the DfE rather than from Herts County and the school will now have greater autonomy over the services that we choose to buy in to. We will look to work strategically in order to improve efficiencies with a number of services and reap the benefits of having a closely-knit group of schools working in positive partnership.
We are excited as we move into the future with the AAT and are eager to make a strong contribution as part of the thriving network of outstanding schools within our locality, benefiting from stronger cross-phase links and the sharing of local expertise.
