Pitch Perfect!

Harvesters Football Club and the Herts Tools Company (HTC), demonstrated great community spirit this week in order to support our school in developing our outdoor area. Harvesters F.C. have recently re-laid some of their football pitches with top quality artificial surfacing and kindly donated four large rolls from their previous pitch to Skyswood Primary School. Each roll measures 30 square metres and will be used to expand upon our outdoor play area and to further develop our environmental area. Of the 120 square metres donated, a third of this will be used to develop a special outdoor reading area that has been designed by a group of our Year 6 children. This project has been taken on by Tabitha, Olivia, Katie and Erin, with some significant funding having been donated to FOSS that will be earmarked for the project. The only obstacle, given Harvesters kind donation, was then finding a way to transport the mighty rolls from Smallford to Skyswood. This is where the generosity of HTC made it all possible. Each roll weighs well over a tonne, so we were delighted when Philip Grimble, the manager of HTC, phoned to offer the company services as a community gesture to support the school. HTC driver, Mark, is pictured here with some of our Skyswood pupils who were here when the turf arrived!,
