The school football team have claimed the league title after beating Mandeville by three goals to nil in their final game of the season. The match was another entertaining (but tense) encounter as Skyswood dominated much of the play but, despite hitting the bar on three occasions, couldn’t break the deadlock before half-time.
In the second half it was a well taken goal by Adam that gave the team a little breathing space, before Jack hit a firm shot into the top of the Mandeville net to give a two goal cushion. Louis, who played up front in the absence of Daniel, secured the victory with a close range effort following up from Jack’s shot across the face of the goal. Toby played really well on his first team debut and Aaron made some brave but decisive challenges at the back. Congratulations to all of the boys for a fantastic season in the league. Toby and Chris have come into the team and performed well when required, but the seven regulars (Max, Aaron, Jack, Daniel, Adam, Louis and George) have been AMAZING throughout the season.
We now have the Wix Quarter Finals (next Monday) and the Inter-League Finals (next Wednesday) to look forward to. Both of these competitions are being held locally at Wheatfields School, both start at 4.00 p.m. Why not come along and support the team ar this exciting point in the season!
