Our infants performed superbly and clearly enjoyed the experience of putting on their Christmas play, Hey You! The play started with the hustle bustle of getting ready for the journey to Bethlehem, with the curious sheep becoming restless at the thought of ‘something going on.’ They noticed Mary and Joseph leading the donkey to Bethlehem. Their curiosity increased as, like the three wise men, they noticed the bright star (which just happened to scare the rest of the flock!) The Angel Gabriel then appeared and told the shepherds all about the Baby Jesus. Fortunately for the sheep, the shepherds agreed to take them with them on their journey to Bethlehem. The play was rounded off with an energetic rendition of ‘A King is Born’, followed by ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas!
Congratulations to all of the children. The singing was fantastic, with songs brought to life with some lovely dance routines, including group dances from stars and angels. The children spoke with great clarity and expression and it was wonderful to be able to perform to a live audience, with the necessary Covid-safe restrictions in place.
Eva (Year 2) wrote a very thoughtful (and accurate) poem about the day after performing a school play;
Yesterday was a fantastic day!
But today…
The narrators won’t be chatty,
The town’s people won’t be rushing,
The angels won’t be dancing,
The shepherds won’t be busy,
The Kings won’t be travelling,
The donkey’s back won’t be killing her,
The curious sheep won’t be curious any more,
AND TODAY WILL JUST BE QUIET!
