Welcome to the Autumn Term for Year 3.
I will be the class teacher on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Mr Bolton will teach Year 3 every Monday. On a Tuesday afternoon Mr Bolton will teach music/drama for an hour and Mrs Ivory for will teach PSHE for an hour.
This term we will be looking at shape poems, writing reports, dialogue and plays and stories with familiar settings.
Children will continue to be taught reading skills during their weekly guided reading session. We have a new lower KS2 reading scheme with a good selection of fiction and non-fiction books. Children can change their reading book independently.
Click on ‘online access.’ There are lots of games to play to help consolidate your child’s learning.
The children will study two topics this term: ‘Materials’ before half term and ‘Magnets and Springs’ after half term.
Over the term we will be working towards planning and creating a multimedia text.
Children will write their spellings in here weekly. Please sign this weekly, before every Tuesday.
Throughout the year we will continue to study Christianity. We shall also find out about Islam.
This term we will study weather in geography. We will study history next term.
Art(with Mr Bolton)
Through ‘Investigating Pattern’ children will create ‘textures’ through rubbings and look at the work of certain artists e.g. Bridget Riley. After half term children will study ‘Sculpture’.
Design and Technology (with Mr Bolton)
The children will create their own moving monster after understanding techniques for making simple pneumatic systems.
Please ensure children have a named PE kit in school every day. Although PE will usually be on a Monday and a Friday, there will be times this may be altered e.g. due to the weather. The children will cover gymnastics, dance, ball skills and invasion games this term.
Children will have weekly spellings, maths cards, reading and an activity from their learning log to complete each week. This will commence next week. Learning logs will go home on a Friday and will be due in the following Wednesday. Spellings will be tested on a Monday.
