Year 2's Whipsnade Poems!
Following our fantastic trip to Whipsnade, the children were tasked with creating simile poems to describe the animals they saw. As we have been learning how to use the possessive apostrophe, they were encouraged to include this in their writing, along with interesting adjectives to bring their poems to life!
To accompany the poems, we had an art lesson where the children created a watercolour collage inspired by the colourful feathers of the parrots we saw during the bird show. Using watercolour paints and tissue paper, they carefully recreated the vibrant textures and patterns of the parrots’ feathers.
Below are some examples of the children's poems, photos of their artwork, and a video of a few children reciting their poems to the class. They should all be very proud of themselves!
