World Book Day 2026

Last Thursday, Skyswood had a lovely day celebrating World Book Day. We started the day off with a 'teacher reading carousel', where each teacher spent five minutes with each class reading them a story. This was followed by a World Book Day assembly led by Mrs Lewis.

This year, we had a whole-school focus on the book The Tree and the River by Aaron Becker. This visual story shows, in staggering detail, a familiar world layered with imaginary civilizations. It touches on themes of change and resilience and, despite the book having no words, children from across the year groups were able to contribute thought-provoking discussions and produce incredible work.
