Upper Juniors Shine in The Greatest Show

Our upper juniors did themselves proud with their outstanding performances of The Greatest Show, at The Sandpit Theatre on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th July. The show, which was an adaption of the KS2 Musical, featured some fantastic songs and plenty of humour. The story centred on The Pickle Family Circus, and the threat of if going out of business due to the villainous Steampunk Colonel Obadiah Blastpipe, who aimed to take over every circus in the world, and steal Professor Pickle's inventions, to make his Steampunk Spectacular the only show worth going to see.  Obadiah, with the aid of his scheming sidekick, Ratfink, two money-seeking quack doctors (Heckle and Snide) and the easily influenced Squeaky Minders, set up a plan to sabotage Pickle's Circus but it was fortunately foiled by the professor's latest invention... a bioscope. So there was a happy ending and the circus was saved.

The children have been deep in rehearsals over the past month and there was a record number of dual-cast roles; Herbert, Petunia, Lily, Branston, Obadiah, Heckle, Snide, Ratfink, Flossie, Mrs Tickle, Professor Pickle, The Escapologist, The Strongman, Victor and Vagabond, and Lord D'Enture. All of the children performed brilliantly and sang their hearts out. Special congratulations to all of those children who sang solos or duets, along with those who brought the show to life with wonderful humour; such as the hilarious pairings of Heckle and Snide, the Squeaky Minders, Rusty and Crusty, Victor and Vagabond and all of the circus acts. It was a wonderful collaboration of talent and our audiences certainly enjoyed the humour, the wonderful acting performances and the superb music. Well done everybody!
