In French, we studied the book ‘Ours brun, ours brun dis-moi ce que tu vois?’ which, in English, is ‘Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?’ by Eric Carle. We already knew some of the words, such as the colours and some of the animals! To translate the rest of the text, we used context, cognates and dictionaries.
We learnt that colour adjectives are positioned after the noun in French. We practised this by creating our own ‘Ours brun’ mini-books. Some of us included the frog in our stories which is a feminine noun. This meant that we had to make the colour adjective feminine to match!
We hope you enjoy our French mini-books!
