Year 6 serve up Wartime Recipe at Sandringham!

Our Year 6 class would like to thank the Sandringham Food Technology department for enabling them to cook the wartime recipe of ‘nettle’ soup as part of their current project on World War II. Locally sourced nettles provided a key ingredient, along with potatoes, carrots and onion, to produce a soup that is rich in vitamins and mirrors a recipe that would have been used at a time when many foods were rationed and home produce was essential. A particular thank you to Mrs Flahive and her team for giving the children an opportunity and experience that they certainly won’t forget. There were mixed reactions when it came to sampling the final product, but many children did bring in suitable containers to take some of the soup home!
