Year 5 – What’s been happening this week?

By Liliana and Maddie

Monday 2nd February – Friday 6th February

Over the week we have been writing our own Spider and the Fly poems where we have been thinking about different rhyming words.

For example, the first line in the original poem by Mary Howitt reads,

“Will you walk into my parlour?” said the spider to the fly,

“’Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy.”

In the poem the spider is trying to persuade the fly to come into his lair so he can eat her.

In Maths we have been learning about timetables for buses and aeroplanes. We have been thinking about the problems if you miss a stop or flight, if the bus or pilot is late and if there have been any cancellations.

In Art we have been making our own sarcophagi and painting them with different Egyptian patterns. This links to the topic of Ancient Egypt which is our history focus.
