The Letter to Lord Monteagle

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have finished our History topic about Guy Fawkes and The Gunpowder Plot! For our last activity the children created letters to send to Lord Monteagle pretending to be Francis Tresham. The children used teabags to cover their paper with so that the letters looked very old (the actual letter was written on 26th October 1605, making it 414 years old). The children had to warn Lord Monteagle about going into the Houses of Parliament on the 5th November, but they could not say who it was from. The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about Guy Fawkes and I have enjoyed teaching them! The results looked very effective.

Warmest regards,

Miss Upton
