We are delighted that our bid for a capital funding grant to replace the school’s demountable unit has been successful, and we now have the demolition dates! Next week we will have a large storage container delivered in order to store all that we need to store in preparation for the demolition. The site will be set up and demolition will commence at half-term (on Monday 13th February.) The new building will be hoisted in with the help of a large crane on Saturday 25th February and the project completion date is scheduled for Friday 24th March, but could well be the previous week if all goes well and there are no weather-related hold ups.
We will need to put into place contingency plans for music sessions (which will take place either in classrooms or with the use of music technology in the ICT suite) and playtimes, with a temporary staggered playtime scenario whilst the infant playground is temporarily out of use.
It is a very exciting project and the current building (which was installed the day before the moon landings) will be replaced with a modern air-conditioned classrooom with excellent toilet and storage facilities.
