Our Tangle-Tree Climber Has Arrived

Our new Tangle Tree Climber has been installed over the summer vacation and is ready for the children to use and enjoy at the start of the Autumn Term. The extensive piece of climbing apparatus was purchased thanks to funds raised by FOSS over the past year. The idea for this piece of apparatus was originally inspired by a fallen tree.It enables children to explore the four main disciplines of climbing- traversing, scrambling, bouldering and overhang climbing. The design also incorporates three different seating platforms for ‘hanging out’ and climbing through.

FOSS raised the magnificent sum of £9,000 for the Tangle-Tree Climber, which sits on appropriate all weather safety surfacing. The apparatus is designed to accommodate over twenty children at a time. Situated next to our Tyre Play area and climbing wall, it now creates an exciting Climb and Clamber Zone in our junior playground. Having also provided a suitable all weather surface for our existing apparatus (down towards the back gate) we will now be able to offer a much wider range of playtime activities during those winter months when the school field is out of action!

Our School Council selected the Tangle-Tree climber after looking at several different options for playground equipment way back in September 2010.
