A competition open to all of our children is to create an eighth dwarf! Can you imagine if there was a long lost dwarf, who returned to join Happy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy, Bashful, Sleepy and Doc? What would the dwarf be called? What would he or she look like?
The challenge is to create a dwarf in the style of the classic Disney cartoon. Draw a picture of your dwarf and give the eighth dwarf an appropriate name.
You can use any materials for your picture, but please use colour rather than just a pencil sketch. You could colour your dwarf with colouring pencils or felt pens, or use paints, pastels, or crayons. It’s really up to you.
Please remember to write your name and class on the back of your picture. All pictures should be completed by Friday 10th June and returned to your class teacher. All those who enter will receive a special Summer Fair certificate and your work will be on display in the hall on the day of our Summer Fair. Some fantastic Summer Fair prizes will be awarded to our winners, so have great fun and why not take up the challenge of creating the eighth dwarf!
The second competition open to all of our children is to make a montage or a clay model of your favourite Disney character.
Montage is a form of art where you create a picture using different types of paper. The best method would probably be tp draw a clear outline of your Disney character and then use different papers or a collection of images to create your montage. You could use newspapers, wrapping papers, wallpapers, tissue paper, sweet wrappers, magazines or any type of paper for your artwork.
If you choose to enter our clay model competition then you can take home a Disney Clay Pack. This will have some advice as to how you could make your own fantastic Disney model.
The montage entries need to be in by the deadline of Friday 10th June, but if you choose to do a clay model then this would be a great half-term activity. The clay models must be in by Wednesday 8th June so that they can then be fired in the school kiln and painted before the Summer Fair.
All those who enter will receive a special Summer Fair certificate and your collages and clay models will be on display in the hall on the day of our Summer Fair. Some fantastic Summer Fair prizes will be awarded and our Year 6 Pottery Club members will be helping us to judge the clay character competition.
