A last minute goal mouth scramble involving some incredible defending was all that came between Skyswood and the goal that they so richly deserved in their recent football friendly against Bowmansgreen. Three children; Charlie, William and Elliot, made their debuts for the Skyswood ‘B’ team and all played well, with William showing his pace and skill on the ball up front, Elliot giving 100% from start to finish, and Charlie competing well (both on the field and as our second half goalkeeper.) It was a thoroughly entertaining, end to end match, with Bowmansgreen scoring two excellent first half goals. In the second half, Skyswood made much better use of space and really deserved at least a goal, with Olly coming close and only being denied by brave goalkeeping. Joe captained the school for the first time and enjoyed another excellent game. Ben and Ezze were solid in defence and all of the team gave a determined effort throughout.
We were equally proud of our ‘B’ team when they represented our school in the Penalty Prize Competition at Clarence Park. Despite being up against Colney Heath ‘A’ team, they took their penalties with confidence and won through to the quarter-finals by five goals to four. The quarter-final will be on Saturday 13th February against Cunningham Hill.
