There have been several football matches over the past couple of weeks, with our school team winning 3-0 away to Aboyne Lodge and then completing their most impressive victory of the season, an away win against Colney Heath in the cup. Colney Heath are a particularly strong team (and the only team to have beaten Skyswood this season in the league), but Skyswood’s 1-0 victory sets them up for a home Quarter-Final against St Peters or Bernards Heath.
Our Year 2 & 3 team played a friendly tournament against Samuel Ryder and Heathlands, winning four matches and drawing two out of their six competitive fixtures. The team played so well that we are determined to find one or two other schools who are willing to play children in Years 2 & 3, and are already in the process of organising a fixture against Bowmansgreen.
The school ‘B’ team have also enjoyed a fabulous start to the season, beating Margaret Wix 3-1 and Bowmansgreen 4-2, before coming back from 3-0 down to earn an outstanding 3-3 draw against a very strong Colney Heath ‘B’ team. Well done to all 30 children who have represented our school at football over the past week, you have been fantastic… and much more entertaining than Mr Bridle’s favourite team, Ipswich Town!
