Football team enjoy their day at Clarence Park!

Despite losing out to Bernards Heath in the Annual Schools Penalty Prize competition on Saturday, the school football team thoroughly enjoyed their day at Clarence Park and were at least able to cheer on St Albans City to a 4-1 win over Maidenhead. The team showed so much potential last season and can’t wait for their first matches of the new year. Penalties are always a bit of a lottery (as the England national team have found out on several occasions.) We would like to wish Bernards Heath school every success as they progress through to the Quarter-Finals in the new year.

Whilst on the subject of football, we are extremely proud that Aaron, Max and Jack have all been selected for this year’s St Albans District football team, and played their first match against Potters Bar under the lights at Colney Heath Football Club on Friday. The A team drew 2-2 whilst the B team narrowly lost out against strong opposition.  A massive congratulations to the three boys, and a special mention to Aaron as he has been named captain for the District team. Last season, Ben was an excellent District Football captain, I’m sure that Aaron will follow in his footsteps. This is the first time in the history of Skyswood that the school have boasted two consecutive District Football captains, a remarkable achievement as the District Squad selects from thirty primary schools, many of which are two or three form entry!
