Maths Cards

4th October 2019

To all Parent/carers,

Maths Cards

In response to this year’s School Action Plan, each Key Stage has reviewed the home learning. Maths Cards were identified as an area to reevaluate. As a consequence, there have been amendments to the Maths Cards scheme.

  • Maths Cards will not carry through into lower Key Stage 2. Years 3 and 4 will focus on the rapid recall of times tables through the use of cards and times tables grids.
  • Year One is largely unchanged but children who complete Maths Card 11 will then be tested against all previous targets and will practise any identified area. Alongside this they will be given a weekly task to challenge their mathematical and critical thinking skills.
  • Year 2 will continue the Maths Cards from Card 12/where they reached at the end of Year 1. They will continue until they reach Maths Card 18 and the final times table cards. As per Year One, they will be tested against all previous targets and will practise any identified area. Alongside this they will be given a weekly task to challenge their mathematical and critical thinking skills.
  • Please note, after the review some challenges have been removed and others have changed order so please bear with us if your child mistakenly receives a repeated card. If this does happen please let us know and we will rectify the situation.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parent helpers that come in weekly to help as we could not do any of this without you!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries and I will be more than happy to help.

Kind regards,

Mia Harvey
