As from September 2014 there will be a new National Curriculum and a new Code of Practice for children with Special Educational Needs. The school have worked extremely hard to ensure the best possible transition into the new curriculum. Information about the new curriculum is published in the curriculum section of the website. Our SEN Policy is transitional, as the new arrangements require even closer work with our parents, and even greater consideration for pupil voice. We will therefore be setting up some parent forum meetings over the course of the year to fully involve and consult our parents. The interim policy has been posted on our website and our aim is to produce a final draft policy, following consultations with children, parents and governors, by the end of the spring term.
The Parent Presentation Evening on Tuesday 16th September will inform parents on the key changes under the new curriculum. This includes a major change in assessment procedures. There will also be a presentation on ‘effective support for home learning’ and an opportunity for parents ask any relevant questions relating to assessment or the new curriculum.
We hope that everybody has enjoyed a fantastic summer and look forward to seeing as many parents as possible at our meeting on the 16th, Cheese and wine/soft drinks will be provided for those parents who are able to attend.
