Our children thoroughly enjoyed their first ever ‘House Day.’ The idea for House Day was suggested at School Council by Erin (Year 4) back in the autumn term. It was clearly a great idea and, after the success and enjoyment of House Day, we have every intention of now making this an annual event. Children enjoyed a range of activities in the morning, where they participated within house groups rather than their usual classes. Each group enjoyed three activities that were delivered by different members of staff. Activities included origami, biscuit decorating, helping out in the environmental area, tri-golf, music, poetry, computer activities, den building and art. In the afternoon there were a number of house competitions. Lower juniors and upper juniors participated in closely fought house tournaments, with Buckingham achieving an impressive double, edging out Windsor in the lower junior ‘decider’ and also finishing just above Windsor in the upper junior competition. Balmoral won the hockey (on goal difference), just pipping Sandringham to the trophy. We will also be organising house netball and table-tennis tournaments later this term, and our feedback from the children was that they all enjoyed a fantastic day!
