The Skyswood football team are looking forward to competing in the Finals of the St Albans annual Six-a-side tournament this Saturday after an impressive string of performances in their preliminary round this Wednesday. Skyswood won their preliminary group after a cautious start against Aboyne Lodge, where they couldn’t quite turn their possession into goals and the match ended goal-less. Skyswood raised their game for their second match against St Peters (knowing it would be a tough one as St Peters had won their first match by five goals to nil!) However, Thomas scored a fantastic goal to seal a 2-0 victory, and the team then followed this up with a magnificent 5-0 victory against Windermere. Henry scored a superb hat-trick, including a cheeky back heel! However, the goal of the tournament was probably Thomas’ bullet header from Ryan’s pinpoint (Beckham-like) cross!
The team will play at least five matches this Saturday morning (28th April). The tournament is at Colney Heath School. It starts at 9.00 a.m. and finishes at around 12.15 p.m. Do come along and give the team a bit of support!
