Our girls football team clinched the league title to become the first team ever to become champions before the end of the autumn term! The team defeated Aboyne Lodge 4-1 to complete a record of six victories in six matches, scoring a total of fifteen goals and conceding just one!
The team started the game well and went into a deserved lead when Tilly scored her sixth goal of the season. Hannah then hooked in a shot through a crowd of defenders to put Skyswood 2-0 up. Aboyne Lodge pulled a goal back, before Honey re-established the two goal advantage. Honey had earlier struck the ball beautifully to ht the net, only for the goal to be ruled out as the ball had marginally been taken out of play after Hannah’s brilliant run and cross. This time, Honey’s strike was decisive! Tilly scored her second goal of the match with a thunderous strike in the final minute of play.
Congratulations must go to our whole ‘A’ team squad, who improve game on game and have played some exciting matches over the course of the term. Chloe, Elizabeth, Lola, Hannah, Tilly K, Tilly F, Honey, Mae and Gabriella have been a consistent squad and must be proud of their efforts. We now look forward to our challenge against Oakwood (after Christmas) in the Quarter-Final of the St Albans City Cup.
