Having seen our teachers posting some lovely stories through Google Meet, I thought I’d post one of my own.
This story gives a little insight into a poem that I wrote a few years ago, ‘Catching Newts.’ The story behind the poem is really about change; highlighting how the area where I grew up in North Kent has changed dramatically in recent years. I also refer to a major current development (a stone’s throw from where I went to primary school). Many of our children may find this quite an exciting prospect but will it be welcomed by the locals?
I hope you enjoy the story and poem. There’s a bit of history, and personal history, added in! The post is around15 minutes in length and I would probably use this as an assembly to stimulate some discussion on change. Is change always a good thing? What are the benefits? What are the drawbacks?
